Kempinski Hotel - Two Days in Munich

Well-known for its large breweries, modern mix of architecture, and rich history – Munich is a captivating city that’s waiting to be explored. From spectacular palaces to delicious local cuisine, come with us as we show you the best way to spend two days in Munich and reveal all of its best kept secrets.

Day 1

Morning

Your first morning in Munich has arrived and what better way to welcome yourself into the Bavarian capital city, than by taking a guided walking tour. Stroll through the some of the most iconic points of interest and learn more about Munich’s tremendous history. One particular highlight is wandering past the stunning Frauenkirche Cathedral, which is also known as ‘The Cathedral of Our Lady’. This gothic church was first built in the 15th century and is said to bear the devil’s footprint inside its spectacular walls, a legend that continues to enchant those who visit.

As you continue your two hours walk across Munich’s Old Town, you’ll also experience the sheer beauty of St. Peter’s Church. As you stand in awe at Munich’s oldest parish church and marvel at the breathtaking baroque architecture, you immediately recognise the legendary sculpture of St. Peter perched on top. Inside the church, you can also admire the richly decorated remains of Saint Munditia that’s laid out in a transparent coffin – though it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Noon

A busy morning of sightseeing can leave one feeling famished, luckily, Munich has some of the tastiest food markets in Europe. On the first Friday of every month, Munich hosts a street food event known as The Hall of Taste. It’s here where you’re guaranteed to find some of the best street food the city has to offer, from a freshly grilled bratwurst to Germany’s famous doner kebab – there’s plenty for you to try. You’re also treated to live entertainment from either a DJ or live band, it’s excellent fun that’s not to missed.

Afternoon

After a delightful spot of lunch, it’s time to move on to the next famous attraction on your list, the Nymphenburg Palace. Built in 1664, it’s one of the city’s most beautiful pieces of baroque architecture. Not to mention its gorgeous garden art, waterfalls, and pavilions surrounding the palace. It’s a wonderful place to meander around during a sunny day.

The palace’s extreme opulence is only magnified as you make your way inside, with frescoes of mythological characters and tapestries encompassing each room – it’s truly a sight to behold.

Evening

The perfect way to finish your day would be to indulge in an evening meal at Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich’s dedicated eatery at the Schwarzreiter Restaurant. With head chef Hannes Reckziege at the helm, every dish is crafted to perfection, using only the freshest and locally sourced ingredients are used to create a menu that’s made with passion.

Day 2

Morning

Rise and shine, it’s a beautiful morning and although this may be your last day in Munich there’s still so much to see. We recommend you start your morning with a trip to one of the oldest science and technology museums in the world, the Deutsches Museum. Built in 1903, you have the opportunity to view fascinating exhibits, from oceanography to astronomy. Plus, there’s even a full-size reproduction of a Spanish stone-age cave, as well as a planetarium – fun for the whole family.

Noon

It’s lunchtime already and next we have another bustling food market for you to try. Located in the trendy Haidhausen district is the charming Wiener Markt. You get the chance to pick up a variety of fruit, vegetables, seafood, meats, and there’s also a biergarten too - the ideal spot to relax in the sun.

Afternoon

Next up on the itinerary is the former home of FC Bayern Munich and host of the infamous 1972 Summer Olympic Games, Olympia Park. These days, the park is used for concerts, cultural events, and exhibitions. It’s also a place where many locals come to unwind and enjoy recreational activities like jogging or cycling.

The emblematic Olympic Tower can also be found within the park. With an overall height of a staggering 291 metres it provides you with an astonishing view of the city that you’ll never forget. What’s more, you’ll find a revolving restaurant within the tower for the ultimate dining experience.

Evening

The end of your two days in Munich is drawing to a close, but before it does, an evening spent in Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich’s luxurious Jahreszeiten Bar is a fabulous way to top it off. Combining both a contemporary and classic American design, this cosy bar’s laidback atmosphere is almost as exquisite as the cocktails available.
